Cooking with Leamons

Oh how I do love a great blog name!  I am very grateful for the last name Lovett.  As "I Love It!" is one of my favorite things to say =).  This new blog, Cooking with Leamons is one that you are going to want to follow.  It is done by one of my most dear friends, Rachel whose maiden name is Leamons...precious!  She is an AMAZING cook.  I absolutely love everything she has ever made for our many dinners together and the recipes I've picked up from her are always a hit.  People fall all over themselves for these dishes and I am so glad she is going to be sharing these with all of us.  Enjoy and Bon Appetite!

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another

The fifth

How is it that I've turned around and everyone around me is pregnant?  Are we that age now?  It seems just yesterday it was all wedding showers and now I have to really think about who of my friends don't have children.  Its just the natural progression of things I suppose, but wow life is flying by!

I had the honor of helping host one of my favorite people in the whole world, Kelly's, baby shower.  Her son Glen Curtis Russell V (yes the fifth!) will be here any day now.  I'm so excited for this couple and their new little family of three (five including the cats, which I know Kelly will want me to include).

Here are some highlights from the day:

This also gave me a chance to visit my beloved First Colony Church of Christ.  Such amazing, beautiful women of God worship here and I am so grateful for their friendship and love!
 For you created my inmost being;
   you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
   your works are wonderful,
   I know that full well.

Cotton and Convictions

January 2011 is rolling in with a bang, and I'm doing everything I can to keep up.  Our weekend schedule is filling up as I type, and as I look at the calendar I'm seriously considering planning a few "Larry and Rachel" weekends that consists of us staying IN town.  I don't know that I would have it any other way though.  I absolutely love the "weekend warrior" mentality, however, this is definitely out of my comfort zone.  I'm a homebody, but I'm married to a man who has a difficult time sitting through a football game on TV without having to get up and do something.  Me on the other hand, can relax with the best of them.  I have been feeling exceptionally convicted lately that although me getting out and about is fulfilling, and maintaining my friendships is important, I need to make sure we are at our home base by Saturday night.  Not only does it give you a chance to re-group before tackling the work week but it most importantly keeps us active in our Church and provides some consistency in our life.  I know that the closer I feel to God, the closer I feel to Larry, and although going to Church doesn't secure my salvation it strengthens my marriage.  I LOVE how our God works!!!

As I mentioned, this month has been a bit of a whirlwind and its not even half over.  Sara miraculously acquired Cotton Bowl tickets, which featured the Texas A&M Aggies against the LSU Tigers.  Whoop!  I knew it was going to be a miracle and a prayer to win, but I grew up with my Dad taking me to Cotton Bowl games the Aggies played in, its tradition!  Plus we Aggies know to take advantage of a situation like this as it may be a LONG time before we are back in another one.

Sara and I got the opportunity to stay at Dave's farm south of Arlington as neither of us had really got to hang with him and his family since my wedding in 2008.  Dave was our polo coach in college and we had some fantastic times back in the day.  I can't believe he let a bunch of college kids descend like locusts on his home every weekend for a good part of the year each year.  He's a saint....no question.  Anyway we stayed up WAY to late Friday night chatting about the funny stuff we did.

We tailgated and met some really fun (and sometimes inappropriate) LSU fans.  Most of them were great and gotta love those Cajun accents!  Sara knows everyone, everywhere so of course we ran into a bunch of her friends and family.

The game.....well it was a good 1st quarter

That is how we all felt Coach Sherman

We still won at halftime...WHOOP!

The next morning Dave's wife Rebecca went on a Fox Hunt (or coyote or whatever they could scare up) while we hung out with Doug.  This was his farm and what a fun time we had.

The hunt....

One of the pups thought the Polaris was a much better option.

Dave and Doug....long time polo friends turned hunt friends

What a fun Saturday morning!

 Pooped pups......
We headed back to the farm for a trail ride

I LOVE SLIPPA!!  Well her name is Slipper but she's english so you pronounce it "slippa"
Dave loves his churussel =)

Encore!

Here are some of the Kruger Park pictures that Bekki and Alan brought me from our trip that I didn't get to bring home the first time.  **Point of interest** well at least for me, the Bachelor is taking his "getaway" dates to South Africa and it really looks like it is to Kruger Park!  I guess I have to keep watching to find out ;-).....

Breathtaking.......

I'm not sure what the Lord is trying to teach me, but literally as I pulled some of my favorite pics from this album, my memory stick broke.  In essence these are all that I have from that set now....There is nothing else to do but laugh about it I suppose, these were my favorite ones and I can get the pictures from the Watts the next time I see them, but why when you start a new budget, do all these expenses creep up?!?!

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to his purpose.
